July At Tat’s Place (An Update from the Blackburns)

The theme in 2021 at Tat’s Place is “Welcome Home” as they want to bring His children home, to Christ, to eternity, into God’s family, to a home where they are LOVED!

The following is a letter from the Blackburns in Peru as of July 18th, 2021:

“With the changes and having to make several updates to our links, I found myself reflecting back on our time here. Why did we come? What has the Lord accomplished? Have we lived up to His expectations in our role here? These verses in Matthew speak to us as we serve here at Tat’s Place and allow us to be reminded of who we glorify as we serve. “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Mathew 16:24,25. We understand our limits as we care for the children He sends to us, and we trust God to help us exceed our limits when we come up short. Most of the children come broken and confused and as we navigate their uniqueness we always find that the one thing they all come with is the ability to love and be loved!

We had a fun time at the beginning of July celebrating Canada Day, the 4th of July, and Venezuelan Independence, July 5th. We had about 50 at our home and all the countries were well represented and we ate a boatload of food to celebrate!

We are being published! Tracy and I joined a grieving parents group a couple of months ago and we meet via zoom doing a book study. We have found great encouragement being in a group with similar situations of child loss. The leaders gave us a chapter in a book they are publishing. The book will be full of stories of hope through child loss and we pray that other parents will find some peace from reading others’ stories. I spent a few weeks putting Tat’s story into words and I had some great help from friends and family editing, proofreading, and sharing ideas for better descriptive text. We sent it to the publishers in July and the book should be published in August or September.

So many of you responded to our special projects and the children are absolutely thrilled that this huge commercial play center is on the truck and coming to Tat’s Place this week! When Tracy and I set out some planning and budgets for some of the projects we had in mind we had no idea how you all would respond. We had envisioned a wood structure with some accessories sent from Amazon. Nope! we are grateful to all who have given to our special projects and I am looking forward to building this for the children! This is a
Brazilian-made product and its 5 meters wide 8 meters long and 3 meters high! UV stable and the structure is all galvanized. Thank you so much!!  Follow us on Facebook for live updates of the build!

Praise
• New children to care for Sirley and Nicole!
• Our new play center!
• The Lord’s continuing provision!
• Tracy and I had an amazing relaxing vacation!

Thank you all who pray for us and support our work here. We are always working hard to be faithful stewards of the work that God leads us to. Your prayers, encouragement, and financial resources sustain us! Thank you for being a part of our team that is making a difference! We pray that God will bless you immensely! With love, and a sincere sense of gratitude for your partnership in the gospel, hugs, and love from Peru!”

We Are One Step Closer to Opening Up The Home!
(An Update On Hogar Genesis)

Our latest update from Iquitos about our Children’s Home is a positive and exciting one! Hogar Genesis is currently in the midst of processing all of the legal licenses and documentation that is needed in order to open the home!

One of the priorities of this home will be to care for infants who require special care so that they can develop and grow in a healthy and safe environment. Since the rates of abandonment are so high in Iquitos, babies are registered in the region as orphans and therefore are more prone to falling into human trafficking networks later on in life. Thanks to generous donors like YOU, Hogar Genesis now has baby cribs that are equipped and ready for infants to rest!

“We want to thank each and every one of you who helped bring these beds and cribs into Hogar Genesis!”

– Rodolfo (ImpactHope Worker)

As for Belen Kids, Rodolfo and his and wife Saraid continue to visit Belen every Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM to share the gospel with the children and play games! A new activity that the children have been learning is Karate! This is a great skill for the children to have as they learn self-defense.

“The goal of teaching these children Karate is to see them participate in local, national, and hopefully international competitions as many of them have become passionate about the sport! Besides, nothing is impossible for God!” – Rodolfo

Your donations help make this ministry available to the children in Belen who can’t afford to attend school and/or extracurricular activities. Funds also help provide food for the children who are involved in Belen Kids!
