MOST RECENT UPDATES: KENYA WATER WELL

March 2024: Help Us Bring Clean Water To Pokot!

Recently, Ishmael met a widow living in a mud hut who had never experienced the comfort of a bed her entire life. With your support, his team was able to change her life by providing her with a bed.

In our ongoing efforts to reach remote communities like Pokot, Kenya where poverty conditions are severe and widespread, we’ve encountered heartbreaking situations where children and mothers suffer greatly due to the lack of clean water. Many families with limited access to basic amenities live in makeshift shelters, such as mud huts. Economic opportunities are scarce, and residents often struggle to meet their daily needs.

However, the need for clean water remains urgent in these impoverished communities. That’s why we’re working tirelessly to bring clean water to Pokot. The team is actively planning to construct a ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ-๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฉ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ž, delivering water from a mountain spring directly to the heart of the village. This initiative has the power to transform lives and will impact thousands of residents.

Oct 2023: Progress Update

Your generous support has made a tremendous impact on the Maasai community, and we have some exciting news to share with you.

We’ve just released a report detailing the significant progress we’ve made at the Olkesumet Prayer Center. Thanks to your donations, we’ve been able to bring clean water to the community and create a foundation for sustainable agriculture. The report provides an in-depth look at the positive changes and the hope we’ve been able to instill in the region.

However, there is an immediate need that requires our attention and support. To safeguard the progress we’ve made so far, we are embarking on the construction of a chain link fence around the perimeter of the land. This fence will protect the crops and the invaluable work we’ve done in creating an oasis in the desert. The estimated cost for this project is $6,000 CAD.

We’re reaching out to our dedicated supporters like you to ask for your help once again. Your continued contributions have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today, and we hope you’ll consider making a donation to help us achieve this critical next step. Your support will ensure the safety and sustainability of the agricultural initiatives that have already had a remarkable impact on the community.

July 2023

We have been busy, but we’re extremely grateful for the leaps and bounds we’ve made in initiating our Olkesumet Irrigation Scheme initiatives in ‘Farming God’s Way’. It’s an absolute honour to embark on this journey with God’s guidance. We’ve got some exciting updates in the form of pictures and videos that we’d love to share with you. Do take a moment to witness the beginning of our journey at the Olkesumet demonstration farm in the Kajiado Region.

Quenching Thirst, Cultivating Hope!

Join us on a journey to the heart of the Maasai community in Kenya as we witness the transformative power of clean water and sustainable agriculture. Thanks to ImpactHope, Vision Ministries Canada and Vision Ministries Kenya, a water well was drilled at the Olkesumet Prayer Centre, bringing hope to 2500 to 3000 people!ย

But the impact doesn’t stop there! Phase 3 of this incredible project focuses on long-term agricultural solutions, turning barren land into a thriving farm. The needs include fencing, cultivation, seeds, fertilizer, and tools, and the community is now anticipating bountiful fruit and a brighter future.ย  We will still need about CAD 10000 for the wellโ€™s casing, which will provide a sealed pathway allowing water to flow to the top without any risks of contamination or sediment formation. Phase 3 still additionally needs around CAD 18000 for the project to reach its full potential.

Will you bring ripples of hope to the Maasai by giving a gift or supporting us monthly here?

Together, let’s continue to sow seeds of change and cultivate a world where every community flourishes.

March 2023

Ishmael recently visited the project site and shared his observations with us.

“On my recent trip to Kajiado, what an encouragement it was to see what is happening on the ground! The farm is starting to thrive. Despite huge challenges due to the lack of appropriate farm tools, the farmers were able to acquire some tools, quality seeds and some pesticides to tackle the pests which were destroying the plants. They also used manure to improve crop production and soil quality.

What a feast for my eyes! I praise God for this day – a place that was once dry and had no hope, is now fruitful. Hope has come!”

Jan 2023: Phase 3

Sustainability is crucial for clean water projects as it ensures that the projectโ€™s benefits are long-lasting and can be maintained over time. In 2019, ImpactHope committed to drilling a well in the Olkesumet Prayer Response Center. This water well will play a crucial role in providing the Maasai community with access to clean and safe drinking water and as a reliable source of water for irrigation, which is essential for agriculture. We are excited aboutย Phase 3ย of the project, which focuses on long-term agricultural solutions.

Feb 2022: Phases 1 & 2

In 2019, ImpactHope committed to drilling a well in the Olkesumet Prayer Response Center. This Maasai community needed to walk for over 20 km to get to the nearest water source. They would retrieve water whenever a tanker truck arrived, which was costly. The community had been praying for a water source for many years. They were very discouraged when the first attempt at drilling failed. At the second attempt last year, a bountiful supply of clean, fresh water was located at a depth of 300m! There is a large quantity of water, and it will impact over 500 people in a 5 km area. As the project progresses, it could potentially impact 2500 to 3000 people, which does not even include livestock. The people are overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude, for this well is a significant blessing in their community.
