Madagascar
About The Location & History
Madagascar is on the brink of a transformative journey toward overcoming hunger and achieving self-sufficiency. Through the “Madagascar Soul & Soil Revival” project, ImpactHope has partnered with Foundations for Farming International (FfF) to bring hope and sustainable development to communities across the nation. This initiative aims to train 1 million small-scale Christian farmers in Madagascar by 2028. Through this partnership, we seek to combat the alarming food insecurity in Madagascar, where the country ranks 124th out of 125 in the 2023 Global Hunger Index. By training 100 farmers who will, in turn, train others, this project strives to empower local communities to achieve self-sufficiency, improve their environment, and generate sustainable incomes. The project aligns with ImpactHope’s mission to foster sustainable development and spiritual growth in vulnerable communities, offering a holistic approach to tackling hunger through both agricultural practices and the teachings of the Gospel.
Who Are We Partnering With?
ImpactHope is proud to partner with Foundations for Farming International (FfF) in the “Madagascar Soul & Soil Revival” project. This initiative, envisioned by FfF Madagascar and supported by Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina, aims to train 1 million farmers to help the nation escape its current starvation crisis. The project is backed by FfF Canada, led by co-founder Chris Hornibrook, who will serve as the main point of contact for fundraising and donor coordination through ImpactHope. Together, we are committed to transforming lives and revitalizing communities across Madagascar through sustainable farming and the message of hope.
What Is The Initiative?
Impact and Beneficiaries: The Madagascar Soul & Soil Revival project is set to transform the lives of 1 million farmers and their families by 2028. Each farmer trained by Foundations for Farming will not only gain the skills needed to cultivate high-yield, sustainable crops but will also be equipped to train others, creating a ripple effect of agricultural knowledge across the nation. This initiative will help farmers escape poverty, adopt healthier diets, and contribute to environmental conservation, leading to long-term community well-being and resilience.
Budget and Funding: We seek to raise a minimum of $250,000 CAD over four years. This funding will support the hiring and training of farmers through FfF Madagascar.
Sustainability and Long-Term Plans: The sustainability of the project lies in its emphasis on knowledge transfer and community empowerment. By training farmers who then train others, the project ensures that agricultural practices and the message of hope through the Gospel will continue to spread, even after the initial training phase. The project’s long-term success is further supported by the involvement of Madagascar’s government and the ongoing partnership between FfF International and ImpactHope.
The project is tasked and supported by Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina
