ImpactHope’s Initiatives for Women and Girls

When women thrive, families prosper, and communities flourish. Empowering women isn’t just about addressing immediate needs—it’s about creating ripples of change that lead to stronger, more resilient societies. Women who gain access to education, resources, and opportunities often use these tools to lift not only themselves but their families and communities out of poverty. This is the heart of sustainability: building a foundation that allows individuals to flourish long-term.

At ImpactHope, we are committed to empowering vulnerable women and girls as a way to break cycles of poverty and foster lasting transformation. Across locations like Kenya, Malawi, and Peru, our initiatives focus on equipping women with the tools they need to achieve self-sufficiency and resilience. The impact of these programs extends far beyond the individuals they serve, touching entire communities and inspiring hope for future generations.

Women Empowerment in Kenya: The KEDHAP Initiative

In Kenya, the KEDHAP program uplifts women through various community-based projects. One of its flagship efforts is the Milking Goat Project, which benefits nearly 800 women. This initiative provides widows and women in poverty with dairy goats, enabling them to produce milk for their families and generate income by selling surplus milk. The project fosters self-sufficiency and economic stability, giving women a chance to break free from poverty.

Additionally, KEDHAP supports women through Table Banking, a microfinance program that empowers them to start small businesses. By pooling resources and providing loans within their communities, women can invest in entrepreneurial ventures to support their families and achieve financial independence.

KEDHAP also addresses critical issues affecting young girls through the Pads for Progress Initiative. This program provides over 4,000 girls each month with sanitary supplies, new underwear, and counseling. These efforts ensure that girls from poor households can stay in school, avoiding early marriage and breaking cycles of poverty. To date, KEDHAP has distributed a year’s supply of sanitary pads and underwear to 5,000 girls across 53 partner schools in Kenya, along with educational workshops on menstrual health.

Women Empowerment in Malawi: The Mbuzi (Goat) Project

In Malawi, the Women Empowerment project focuses on supporting widows and women in poverty through the Mbuzi (Goat) Project. Similar to Kenya’s Milking Goat Project, this initiative provides meat goats to women, empowering them to alleviate poverty and achieve self-sufficiency. The goats offer a sustainable source of income and nutrition, helping families rebuild their lives.

Malawi also faces alarming rates of child marriage, with 42% of girls married before age 18. ImpactHope’s Education for Girls and Poor Orphans Project (EGPOP) tackles this issue by creating educational opportunities for vulnerable girls and orphans. In a country where less than 15% of women have secondary education and 11% of children under 18 are orphans, EGPOP is a lifeline. By enabling girls to attend secondary school, the program helps rescue child brides and gives orphaned boys and girls a chance at a brighter future.

A Home of Hope in Peru

Beyond Africa, ImpactHope’s commitment to supporting vulnerable women and children extends to South America. At Hogar Genesis in Peru, 17 girls who have faced abandonment or abuse find a safe and nurturing environment. More than just shelter, Hogar Genesis offers love, support, and opportunities that transform lives.

The Bigger Picture

The work of ImpactHope and its partners spans far and wide, making it impossible to list every project and achievement in one post. From empowering women and girls to supporting vulnerable children, the breadth of their impact is inspiring. Each initiative—whether providing sanitary pads, rescuing child brides, or equipping women with goats—contributes to a greater mission of breaking cycles of poverty and building resilient communities.

Empowering Leaders, Transforming Communities in Zambia

In many rural communities across Zambia, pastors and Christian leaders are the backbone of society. They are the ones who counsel families, guide the youth, and spread the hope of the gospel. But sadly, most of them lack formal theological training and the resources needed to effectively lead their churches and impact their communities.
That’s where The Grace Project Training Center (TGPTC) steps in.
