  • NEBAJ, GUATEMALA – APRIL 2019 TEAM

A team of 26 went to Nebaj, Guatemala with hopes of working on the hospital more and to partake in home visits. For some, the excitement of doing home visits was different as they were able to visit friends who they had met during previous trips to Nebaj. An individual on the team tells his story:

“Our team leaders were amazing and truly inspiring when it came to the work and ministry in Nebaj. They found someone who was really in need and so we went to visit their home. In the home, there was a widow with her 7 children, the youngest being 3 years old. In the room was one bed without a mattress. For many of us, the comfort of having a bed to sleep in every night has become second nature and we tend forget that having a bed to sleep in is a privilege. With this said, our team bought a mattress for the family and they were overly grateful. We then asked the woman when was the last time she had eaten, she said, “I don’t know”. We asked her 3 more times and she said she hadn’t eaten for 2 days. The room fell quiet. When she was asked, “If you could have anything right now what would it be?” She responded, “Rice and beans”.

There are several families in Nebaj who struggle to eat one meal a day and have a bed to sleep in. Health care is also a huge concern as many families cannot afford medical care. The Hospital in Nebaj provides both health care and dental care. The team helped more with the construction of the Hospital but it is up and running, accepting patients like this woman and her children, even if they cannot afford it.

Evidently, there are many needs in Nebaj. Here are some things that we are presently fundraising for:

  1. The construction of the hospital to assist in supplies and salaries of the builders
  2. Supporting patients at the clinic who cannot afford quality medical care
  3. Supporting the education of Guatemalan students who are training to be Auxiliary Nurses
  4. Supporting the educational costs for the children of the staff at the clinic

If you would like to make an impact in Nebaj by making a special gift or a monthly donation to one of these specific, we would be overly grateful. Your gift, no matter the size can make an incredible difference in the lives of others!

Thank you once again to this team and everyone who was involved and supported them. A great deal of time is spent in preparation for each trip in prayer, planning, gathering of supplies and fundraising. We are excited to see what God continues to do in Nebaj! If you would like to get involved or contribute by making a special gift or a monthly donation to one of these specific causes, we would be overly grateful. • SUPPORTING PASTORS & FATHERS (Father’s Day Campaign)

With respect to Father’s Day coming up, the next 3 weeks we will be raising awareness about Pastors and their families who struggle due to low wages, educational and poverty issues. We are raising funds for Pastors in Africa and the Caribbean. Supporting our Pastors & Fathers will focus on raising funds for those who have been called to serve but lack in finances due to educational and poverty issues. Several pastors live on very little income (less than $8 USD a month).  Sadly, it is the children of the pastoral couple who suffer the most.

We are creatively developing ways to increase the levels of sustainability for Pastors. It is our hope to ease the financial stress for Pastors so that they can focus on their ministries and communities!

Help feed a Pastor and his family for $20 a month or make a special gift of any amount ($10, $50, $100+)!

The ROI of Joy: Why We’re Carrying Hope Into 2026

If you could stand in the courtyard of the Vision of Grace school in Fort Jacques, you wouldn’t just hear lessons; you’d hear the rhythmic sound of potential being realized. You’d hear the laughter of children who, just a year ago, faced the silence of empty stomachs and closed doors. A new year always invites reflection, but for us at ImpactHope, it’s more than a pause. It’s a moment to look at the faces behind the metrics and recognize that the “hope” we talk about is a living, breathing reality…

Tatiana's Story

From a very young age, Tatiana had a heart for serving children. After a short trip to help at an orphanage in Haiti in 2014, she was ready to go all in to serve the less fortunate children of the world. Tatiana was the driving force behind the family moving to Peru, and she loved the children of Peru.

In the summer of 2018, Tatiana Blackburn died tragically in a car accident. To honour her memory, the Blackburns started a fund called Tat’s Kids Peru. This fund was designated for the children at Tat’s Place to support the ongoing operation of the home.
