  • JUSTICE FOR ANTONIO: RECENT UPDATE

We’ve received an update about Antonio, a Christian man who was falsely accused and imprisoned in 2013. Appeals were submitted to drop the charges but to no avail, he was sentenced life in prison. Here is the latest news:

“The latest report I’ve received on Antonio and Carmen was heartbreaking. Just the week before I got a long letter from Antonio who was very upbeat, taking about how in a year he would be let out of prison with ‘benefits’ which I didn’t quite understand and was going to ask about. Then this week I heard from Carmen who said they had suddenly moved Antonio to a maximum security prison in Cusco. He didn’t have a bed, or blankets and was moved with only his jungle clothing. Another missionary in Puerto Maldonado helped Carmen to travel to Cusco her warm clothes and blankets was brought for Antonio. There was a charge for Carmen to enter the prison. The area where Antonio is at in the new prison is full of water and for a bribe and they would to move him to another area. So, our prayer is that Antonio would be moved even without paying the bribe. Prayers are also needed for his health in moving from a warm jungle to a cold mountain climate.

Last month Carmen received a new oven so she can continue to bake her cakes and sell on the street. It’s all been happening so fast, she isn’t quite sure what she will do. She’s thinking about moving the family to Cusco… Which may be what the Lord has wanted for a long time. Prayers are always appreciated. Thanks for considering this need.  God is good.”

MVC has recently sent funds for a bed, mattress, clothing and travel expenses! Thank you to our donors.
