Compassionate Care in Nebaj, Guatemala

Life doesn’t always go as planned. For Gregorio, things took a rough turn when alcohol became his escape. What started as a way to cope with struggles quickly took over his life, leaving him sick, isolated, and without hope.

But sometimes, hope finds us in the most unexpected places. For Gregorio, that place was Servicios Médicos Vida y Esperanza in Nebaj.

A Wake-Up Call

Gregorio had struggled with alcohol for years. But when his health started failing, he knew he couldn’t keep ignoring the problem. His body was breaking down, and deep down, he longed for change.

That’s when he found his way to the hospital. He didn’t just receive medical care—he was met with kindness, understanding, and the belief that his life still had purpose.

“Gregorio fully recovered, and when he returned to the hospital, he didn’t come empty-handed. With a grateful heart, he brought a beautifully woven bag as a gift—his way of saying, thank you for seeing me, for caring for me, for believing in me..” – Dr. J.P

More Than Just Medicine

The doctors treated Gregorio’s immediate health concerns, but they didn’t stop there. They listened to his story, spoke words of encouragement, and reminded him that change was possible.

And something inside Gregorio shifted. For the first time in a long time, he believed a better life was within reach. He took his first steps toward recovery, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.

One Story Among Many

Dr. Juan Pablo and Carolina Noriega are the visionary leaders behind our hospital and educational initiatives in Nebaj. Their commitment to providing holistic care—both medical and spiritual—continues to transform the community. Gregorio’s story is just one of many happening every day in Nebaj. The hospital is a lifeline for people who have nowhere else to turn. Just in the first half of 2024:

2,814 patients received medical attention
271 patients were treated completely free of charge
623 ultrasounds were performed, helping diagnose conditions early

Each of these numbers represents a life changed—someone like Gregorio, who now has hope for the future.

Be A Part of Nebaj’s Healing Journey

The hospital runs on faith, generosity, and the belief that everyone deserves care, no matter their circumstances. But keeping it running takes resources—medical supplies, staff salaries, and patient care all depend on people like you.

Would you consider being part of this mission? Your support helps change lives, one patient at a time.

The ROI of Joy: Why We’re Carrying Hope Into 2026

You’d hear the laughter of children who, just a year ago, faced the silence of empty stomachs and closed doors. A new year always invites reflection, but for us at ImpactHope, it’s more than a pause. Tatiana's Story

From a very young age, Tatiana had a heart for serving children. After a short trip to help at an orphanage in Haiti in 2014, she was ready to go all in to serve the less fortunate children of the world. Tatiana was the driving force behind the family moving to Peru, and she loved the children of Peru.

In the summer of 2018, Tatiana Blackburn died tragically in a car accident. To honour her memory, the Blackburns started a fund called Tat’s Kids Peru. This fund was designated for the children at Tat’s Place to support the ongoing operation of the home.
